Who Writes This Blog?

Hey there! This blog is written and maintained by Lux Pickel (pronounced lucks pick-elle). They formerly blogged on Teen Skepchick and Queereka, and more recently have begun writing on Zinnia Jones: Secular Trans Feminism along with Zinnia and her partner Heather.

Lux is a female genderqueer atheist who writes from Kansas. They struggle with depression on a daily basis, so much of their writings will be on that topic. Other topics you will often see tie into feminism, trans* issues, atheism, and pretty much whatever comes up.

Lux lives with their wonderful husband, Degon, and two cats, Lucifer and Degon the Mighty. (Yeah, that happened.) When depression lets them function normally, you may find them making jewelry from sheet metal or cleaning or writing.

If you’ve noticed a lack of gendered pronouns, congrats! Lux prefers that people use gender-neutral pronouns and nouns to talk about them.

It should really go without saying, but the views expressed in this blog are only meant to reflect on the author and don’t necessarily represent the views of their husband, employer, family, or friends.

And now, here are some pictures from the last few years to give you an idea of who Lux is:
